Heavy Rain: Demo impressions

This daring title has much to live up to, says the millions of other people writing blog posts much like i am. But really, it is true and describing this game is hard, at least to do so in a unique way. But i’ll leave that for a review, if i do one. As you may know, there is a certain way to get the demo early, a quick search on Google will help you out with that, of course i went and found out this rather interesting method and gained access to the 1.7GB demo.

Apple's iPad

I’ll start off by saying i’m not really an Apple fan, but i respect their work, the quality and effort that goes into manufacturing their products is fantastic. Yeah, they may not be to my liking, but you can’t deny it is quality stuff they usually make.

Sony: New R&D team for Microsoft?

No, not really. But we all know that over the last year or two, we have seen previous Xbox 360 exclusives coming over to the Playstation 3 with improvements. The xbox 360 was then labelled among the core gaming crowd as a machine for beta testing future Playstation 3 titles. That may be partly true, but look closely at what Microsoft has been doing to Sony. Sony have been doing some pretty bold and risky projects this generation in attempt to bring them back to the top, they’ve been great ideas, but not all of them executed very well.

Microsoft, Xbox 360 and Me

Just finished watching the Microsoft CES 2010 press conference with the same excitement i always do after watching one of Microsoft’s press conferences. But i don’t get it, it rarely ever follows through with me, all these new features and the games rarely ever impress me as much as i would of expected. I am consistently disappointed by it, everything seems so cool and am always thinking to myself that this will be the year i use my Xbox 360 as one of my main gaming devices. But it just never is.

Bioware: Saving the RPG Genre

Woah, very controversial statement, right? Well, i like RPG’s, but i’m extremely picky ones i play. For the longest time, i have been without any real RPG’s that i have been able to invest into and enjoy the story of. Then along came Mass effect, which at first thought wouldn’t be for me, since i couldn’t get into that during the introduction to the game. But i fought my way through that, and really enjoyed it. Bioware really take care with the writing, the voice acting and especially the back story and that is something i really appreciate and is essential for me to immerse myself into these games. So Mass effect lead me on to a game i’m really enjoying, that is Dragon age.

PC Gaming: Correcting some common misconceptions

I’ve been reading some extremely infuriating bullshit on the internet recently. These types of comments have always been around, but the fact i have been really getting back into PC gaming recently has probably helped me notice these comments more and more. I’m a gamer, i don’t limit myself by platform and never have, so i own the consoles and a PC capable of running everything out there on maximum settings (i refuse to call it a Gaming PC). I enjoy PC gaming, so i have spent quite a large amount of money on it over the years, but this is where the silly myths connected to PC gaming start, cost. Yeah, it can be extremely expensive, but does it have to be? No.

Torchlight – A game you should feel guilty for not buying

Torchlight from Runic games is a Diablo style RPG, heavily action orientated and more or less the point of the game is clear out dungeons, finding specific items for quest givers. The attraction to these sorts of games has usually been in the levelling up of your character, and for me, that is still the attraction. However, another one the draws was online co-op play, which is sadly lacking in this title, but as this game was designed to be exploited by the modding community, there are talks of that co-op play injected into the game via an optional downloadable mod.

PlayStation 3 Firmware 3.00: Impressions

Yep, Firmware update 3.00 for the PS3 is finally here. Sony skipped 2.90 for some random reason, probably to use the hype behind the “mysterious 3.00 update that will fix everything” rumours floating around the internet to their advantage, which i never understood. Just because it is a full number means nothing at all when it comes to firmware updates for the PS3. Our biggest update yet was 2.40, ’nuff said.
